William Brent Bell’s Upcoming Folk Horror ‘Lord Of Misrule’ Sells To UK

 Signature Entertainment has acquired UK rights to William Brent Bell (Orphan: First Kill) folk horror Lord of Misrule from Bankside Films.

Lord of Misrule follows Rebecca, who has recently taken over the parish church of a small English village. When her young daughter goes missing at a winter festival, secrets of the town’s dark past emerge and soon she must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice to rescue her daughter from the grip of evil.

Pic stars Tuppence Middleton (Possessor), Ralph Ineson (The Witch) and Matt Stokoe (Rose: A Love Story).

Currently in post-production, the film is produced and directed by Bell who most recently steered Orphan: First Kill for Paramount. The genre filmmaker is well known for box office hits including The BoyThe Devil Inside and Stay Alive. Script comes from Tom De Ville.

Producing are Nik Bower (Selma), Deepak Nayar, Jason Newmark, Laurie Cook, William Brent Bell, James Tomlinson and Alison Brister.

The deal was negotiated between Signature Entertainment’s Acquisitions and Development Manager Katie Wilkinson and Bankside Films’ Head of Sales Yana Georgieva.
